Fun For a Good Cause: Free Rice!

A colleague shared this cool site with me today where you can have fun testing your vocabulary while supporting a good cause. For each word you correctly define, 10 grains of rice will be donated to the hungry. http://freerice.com/

Hey there, you probably already know this but there is a person in Venice Beach who will write your name on a grain of rice…maybe the Stan’s Cafe performers will want to have their names on rice grains as mementos of this installation…Ha ha…anyhow I just wanted to share that with you and be the first to post a comment! BTW here is the url for that rice writing person: http://www.yournameonagrainofrice.com

This is a good cue to remind people that all the rice used in the show will be donated for human and animal consumption after the performance. One day i will sit down and do the sums as to how much rice has been donated to charity though doing this show. It is certainly adding up quickly, much like that from the Free Rice site.

I visited the site and it’s fun, I got to play but I’m kind of busy today so I will get back to that site later on and see what I can do to donate a rice while having fun. Actually, having fun is just a bonus, just the mere fact that you can help is already something that makes me happy.

    Thanks for sharing this site.
